From Edward Saint-Omer book St. Gerard Majella there was a young man, a consumptive named Nicholas Benincasa, was often in the Saint's company. One day when he was admiring his virtues, he said to himself, "This good Brother Gerard performs so many miracles for others, and he does not pray God to take from mee this lung trouble. " He had scarcely formulated the complaint in his heart when the brother said to him "What are you saying there? You say I do not pray for you. Indeed I do. But God does not wish to cure you. My son, you are not for this world." The young man died shortly after and as the Saint's words signified, he went to a better world.
